Re-imagining futures in STEME

Understudy and Overdose

In this project, final-year preservice teachers tutor first-year nurses in the mathematics needed for science, furthering the mathematical knowledge of both groups. The project gives primary preservice teachers the opportunity to work outside the usual ‘school’ setting, thus broadening their experience, and with students who have a genuine need for mathematics in their daily professional lives. It has proved to be highly effective, significantly raising the mathematics scores of nursing students.
