Deakin University mathematics education researchers present at MERGA45

The Mathematics Education Research Group of Australasia (MERGA) annual conference (MERGA45) was held in Newcastle July 2-6, 2023.

Recent graduate Dr Jiqing Sun, current HDR student Lei Bao, and Jill Brown all presented our reviewed and accepted research papers at MERGA45 in Newcastle last week.

Jiqing presented A Further Investigation to Introducing the Equal Sign in China.

Lei presented Identifying and Assessing Students’ Transition Barriers Between Additive and Multiplicative Thinking.

Jill with Gloria Stillman presented Mapping Teacher Moves When Facilitating Mathematical Modelling reporting methodological tools used in our ARC Discovery Project 2017-2019 project.

All three research papers were well received and followed by much interesting discussion.
